Property management

Your Sims can now own land and rent it out to others. Becoming a landlord means keeping all the common areas clean, as well as responding to any potential emergencies your tenants may have. These emergencies take the form of random events that your Sim will need to successfully complete to maintain a good rating.

The mold field challenge

It's the surprising little addition to the new The Sims 4 For Hire expansion pack, a special Mold terrain challenge. The pack must have been conceived around the time of The Last of Us series, in any case the in-game fungi are just as fierce and dangerous, we explain.

As a reminder, the terrain challenges add a little diversity and difficulty to the game, for example by creating mouse invasions, breaking objects, etc... If you'd like to add even more challenges to your games, you can try a Sims 4 challenge and see what the challenges have in store for you!

The mold develops as soon as your Sim leaves puddles of water on the floor for too long, or garbage in the middle of the living room. After a few hours, you may begin to see small stains appear on the floor. There are in fact two types of mold: allergenic and toxic.

In both cases, you can get rid of it directly by clicking on it. You have three options: the anti-mould spray, a good sweep or set fire to it... Fighting evil with evil...

The anti-mould spray will clean your whole yard, which is handy if mold starts to spread.

If you don't do anything before the three hours have expired, a new countdown will start, this time with a "Fatal Moisissuritis" state of mind. You can't say you weren't warned about what's coming...

Last stop on the road, and for our Simette... The mower has arrived, ready to pick the mushrooms... At least, it adds a new type of death Sims 4 !

If you want to recover your Sim's ghost, it will spoil all nearby food and improve the condition of your plants.

The Maintenance Challenge

This challenge is not offered on residential rentals, only on classic lots. It will allow you to trigger a few events similar to those you would have in a residence, with power outages, breakdowns, etc. During my test, no events were triggered.

In addition to landlord and tenant gameplay, The Sims 4 To Rent pack also arrives with some new recipes inspired by Southeast Asia. And to cook them, new appliances have arrived in Purchase Mode: kettles and pressure cookers.

Two kettles are available for your Sims to make hot drinks. One modern, the other more classic.

To use either, start by heating the water. Once the water is ready, you can select a beverage from coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

Well, I'm normally on the hot chocolate team, but just for the name alone, we tried the rainbow tea from the unicorn galaxy!

Sims 4 pressure cooker

We've talked about drinks, now let's talk about food! The pressure cooker can be used to make a number of recipes, particularly with rice. 4 are unlocked as soon as you reach level 1 of the Sims 4 Cooking skill, then you'll have to wait until level 6.

Once you've chosen a recipe, the steps are pretty straightforward: your Sims will put in the ingredients, the cooking takes place, and then all you have to do is release the steam once you're ready to serve!

Character traits

In addition to the new outfits and hairstyles from the A Louer pack, the expansion comes with 4 new aspirations and 4 character traits.

Village child These sims love to feel rooted in their community and in Tomaran culture. Staying in touch with their loved ones and taking part in activities that remind them of their home region is important to their happiness. Having them live in or visit Tomarang will make them happier.
Awkward Awkward Sims: These Sims have an unpleasantly offbeat demeanor that often elicits divisive reactions. Awkward Sims can sometimes be socially oblivious to what's going on around them, but they see life in adorably enthusiastic ways.
Indiscreet Sims who love to gossip, snoop and spy. They have incredibly few boundaries and don't really understand the notion of personal space, but they'll uncover secrets by any means necessary.
Generous These Sims are overflowing with care, empathy and patience, and particularly enjoy giving their time and money to help others. Everyone loves them, but their gifts can sometimes be excessive.

A final feature, calledSage"is also making its appearance. And, unusually, it's reserved for seniors. You can apply it yourself to your Sims in CAS, or wait for your Sims to age. It may be offered to you if your Sim has reached level 10 in Logic or has the genius trait.

The "Indiscreet"comes with a whole new set of secrets-related gameplay. Intrusive Sims can spy on other Sims and eavesdrop on conversations.

They can also rummage through neighbors' mailboxes and break into their homes. Once inside, rummage through furniture and under objects, and your Sim may find some information. Be careful to do this when the neighbor isn't home, though, or your Sim could be in trouble...

During the pack test, my Sim broke down the neighbor's door from the inside... We're not far from the remake of the film "The living rooms were locked from the inside".

All secrets collected from other Sims are displayed in the Sim's Secrets tab. If your Sim is in a malicious mood, he or she can blackmail the other Sim to earn a few simflouzs.

For the "Awkward"You'll be treated to an often-player sim who occasionally dabbles or dances alone in the street.

Finally, a few details on the Village Child trait. Sims with this trait can't bear to stay away from traditions for too long. You'll need to take them out into town regularly, get them to meet other locals and perform a few traditions, such as lantern throwing.

The new outfits

On the Create A Sim side, the Sims 4 For Rent pack arrives with just over 140 new items. On the whole, the outfits are fairly sober and modern, with a few more traditional designs, but most of them are clothes your Sims will be able to wear every day in town.

Speaking of the city, some outfits and accessories are blocked in CAS unless you buy them at the Tomarang night market or use one of the Sims 4 cheat codes to unlock outfits !
