I'd like to remind everyone that game development is rarely simple. It's really twisted, and sometimes a little slack, and we're still in the early stages of development on our new item pack. What I'm trying to say is that we are actively working on this pack and the information below is subject to change. But enough about that. Let's start discussing today's topic, rocking chairs!
You, the community, voted on what the rocking chair would look like. This is the winning design, in case you forgot.

Don't worry, it will look more like the concept art once our modeler is done with it. This is what we call a "work in progress".
As you can probably guess, rocking chairs will act like... rocking chairs. I know, how daring! So maybe we don't need to go into explicit detail about how a rocking chair works, but suffice it to say that it's a chair and it rocks.
Parlons donc de certains des nouveautés en terme de gameplay qui entourent les rocking chairs, car c’est là que nos rocking chairs dans Les Sims 4 deviennent vraiment intéressants.
Sitting in a rocking chair is quite relaxing for Sims, so naturally feelings of unease, sadness or anger will diminish more quickly. Sims will also gain a bonus to their knitting skill while in the rocking chair, so be sure to take advantage of that. Try building a "knitting room" with a rocking chair and a stereo that plays Focus/Metal music to completely immerse your Sim in knitting.
As I mentioned in a previous blog post, seniors will have unique gameplay with rocking chairs. By sitting in a rocking chair, Senior Sims will gain some friendly relationships with other Sims. Seniors will also be able to reminisce on the rocking chairs, gain some entertainment by relaxing and exploring their minds. If you play as an Elder while they are recalling memories, you'll be able to see images of their minds swirling around them, just like toddlers when they play pretend with toys. What seniors get out of this experience is up to their personality traits, but hopefully it's something enjoyable!
Here is a clip in development of the Remembering animation, as modeled by this adult Sim. Since both adults and seniors use the same animation platform, they share the same default Sim that is used to model the animations being worked on in our animation tools.
Not only will seniors have unique interactions with the rocking chair, but so will children and toddlers. Children and toddlers will have interaction with the rocking chair, where they can satisfy their need for entertainment by swinging in insatiable fury. Check out this adorable, enthusiastic toddler.
