Viruses lurking in some Sims 4 mods!

In recent weeks, announcements of virus-infected Sims 4 mods have been piling up. We're already up to 4 mods officially recognized as corrupt.

The discord of Sims After Dark has listed the following impacted mods:

  • "Cult Mod v2" uploaded on ModTheSims by PimpMySims
  • "Social Events - Unlimited Time"posted on CurseForge by MySims4
  • "Weather and Forecast Cheat Menu"posted on The Sims Resource by MSQSIMS
  • "Seasons Cheats Menu"posted on The Sims Resource by MSQSIMS

The viruses included in these mods steal data from your computer, including the passwords stored in your web browsers. If you've downloaded the Social Event mod, the owners of the Curseforge application have put the following online a tool for removing traces of malware. If you're affected, it's obviously also crucial to change your passwords and make them unique on every site.

In parallel, TwistedMexi has released a mod that detects any custom content that might attempt to install malicious content. As well as detecting them, it will of course warn you if anything suspicious is found, and warn the community too.

What do you think about it?
