January's Behind the Sims summary

It just ended a few minutes ago, the new Behind The Sims, this new live format presented by the SimGurus, came to give like the last time some info about what is coming in The Sims. Let's have a look at what has been announced!

News from the René Project

If you were wondering, René is fine. He's making slow but steady progress, and it was SimGuruGrant who came along to give him a quick introduction. Grant is a developer who's been with The Sims for several installments now, and he's a well-known figure among developers, so he's in charge of bringing the project to fruition by a date we still don't know more precisely, if not "not for years".

Although we don't know the date, we did get a few more details, notably on the fact that the game will be playable in single-player or multiplayer, the choice is up to you, and the switch looks like it can be made whenever you want. A few more development images have been released, again focusing on the Purchase Mode.

In any case, Maxis seems quite satisfied with the first test phase, which was launched some time ago with a number of players. The game has been tested on both PC and mobile.

Updates for The Sims Mobile and Freeplay

Update with infants on March 14

It's now official: infants are coming to The Sims 4, and will be available via an update on March 14.

Infants will be customizable in Create A Sim, just like other Sims, except that they'll be sitting on a cushion. You'll be able to choose their outfits, physique, etc. A new feature is the ability to customize their teeth. Will your little one have one tooth, three teeth or none at all? You can choose!

In terms of gameplay, there should be several new interactions, including the possibility of breast-feeding the infant. Otherwise, he'll be able to eat in the highchair (and put food everywhere, of course, otherwise he's not a child). Staying with needs, infants will need to take a bath from time to time, and this will be possible in a chair installed in the bathtubs.

And of course, you will be able to play with them, they will move around the house, fall down, burp, infants what!

A new extension unveiled on February 2

Thursday sees the release of the trailer for the next Sims 4 expansion pack. There's not much more information about it at the moment other than the infant update date mentioned above. It's highly likely that the game will be released the same week, which would give us March 17 if the expansions are always released on Fridays.

Oh yes, another detail about this extension: it will come with the "Michaelson" family...

What do you think about it?
