Functional bell
Say hello to the Ding & Ditch smart doorbell for The Sims 4. This doorbell adds a modern and realistic touch to your home in 8 different colors. With 3 detection modes and a visual ringtone, you'll never miss a visitor or delivery.
The original EA interaction with the door is still available, but the doorbell is just more desirable. You may need to fix it from time to time, or your friends may get an unexpected shock... Once it's totally broken, the Sims will come knocking on the door again.
Description
Visual Ring offers an alternative alerting system designed for deaf and hard of hearing Simmers. Once activated, any number of lights in your home can be set to flash a red color three times each time the doorbell button is pressed.
Detection modes
- Ring only: Receive notifications when someone rings your doorbell.
- Motion: Receive notifications when motion is detected.
- Face ID: Receive smart notifications with a Sim's name and photo when they are identified.
- Off: No notifications are received, but ringtones and visual ringtone still work if enabled.
Color chart
The smart doorbell is available in jet black, stark white, Sixam grey, Granite Falls green, Sulani sand, Gnome gold, Vlad silver and Henford pink.
In Life mode, you can change the color of the light button to white, blue or green in the Settings category.
Improvements
- Customized ringtones: In addition to the classic Sims 3 doorbell sound, 5 additional in-game ringtones are available once a Sim has completed this upgrade.
- Plum MX Blue Switch: With a few coins, your Sim can almost double the number of times the button can be pressed.
- Plathium Button: With a collected plathium element, your Sim can fortify its doorbell to last a lifetime without breaking again. Plathium is found in three metals: death metal, plathinum and ironyum. It can also be found in four crystals: diamond, fire opal, citrine and jet. Once you've found a metal/crystal, send it to the Geology Council by post to collect your elements.
Off-grid
If you live off-grid, or can't afford to pay your electricity bills, worry no more. The smart doorbell now comes with batteries! In the Upgrade menu, you can now find a Change Batteries interaction that will allow your doorbell to operate without electricity for a week. Batteries cost 12 simflouzs, or you can buy them for 6 recycling coins if you have the Ecology lifestyle.
The batteries will last about a week and will hold their charge longer if power is available or if the doorbell is turned off.
Some additional tips
If the Sims are sleeping, there is a 50% chance that they will be awakened. Vampires are immune to the technology of mere mortals.
Sims with the Technophobic lifestyle (Snowy Getaway required) will prefer to knock on the door. So be sure to turn on motion detection to catch them too!
With Etre Parents, children of all ages can make faces or wave at the camera for special moments, like coming home from school and saying hi to mom or dad at work.
