Empty the cache of The Sims 4 and Origin

The game's cache allows frequently and/or recently requested resources to be stored in a corner so that they can be reloaded quickly. Over time, these files can accumulate data that is no longer valid, especially if you have custom content. It is therefore worth cleaning them up.

Clean up Sims 4 files

What files should I delete to clear the Sims 4 cache?

In the folder Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4, you can delete the following files/folders:

cache contains images from the gallery
cachetr contains the ads displayed on the main menu. You can delete the spotlight file inside even if the usefulness of this deletion is not significant.
cachewebkit contains files only during game sessions
onlinethumbnailcache : contains the preview images of the extensions on the main menu. These images can be deleted, they will be re-downloaded the next time they are loaded.
localthumbcache.package
lastcrash.txt : contains details about the last crash of the game
lastexception.txt : contains details about the latest bug in the game
ReticulatedSplines
ReticulatedSplinesView Allows to show new games at startup. If deleted, games will be shown as new at next startup

What do you think about it?

So wait, one question at a time :p
For the Origin cache, it's mostly when you have a problem with the Origin client itself that you need to clear it. Like for the game, I would say. It depends on the usage, I don't clear my cache regularly for example.

For the cache folder, indeed you can delete the images inside, I dare to hope that if you delete the folder the game recreates one for you. For spotlight as indicated ( :p ), it contains the different news that you see at the bottom of the main menu.

Oh yes, Bleue! I didn't see the first post of this topic either (or it was a very long time ago, and I didn't remember it! :p )

By the way, Alex, it seemed to me that the "cache" folder, the first one, the one that contains the images of the gallery, should not be deleted, but delete everything it contained? Isn't that right?

And what does it do to remove the spotlight from the cachestr? I've never seen the use of it? Does it affect the lights in game?

And finally, I would like to add that the removal of the localthumbcache is important, and even essential when you play with mods, so that the game takes into account your modifications in this so precious folder: Mods!

Surely an answer there, Blue: https://help.ea.com/fr/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/ ;)

Thanks for this tutorial, Alex. It's a procedure I didn't know at all. By the way, is it necessary to do it often, regularly, from time to time or only when we think about it? Or even at each patch or maj of our games (only the S4 for me)?
I got into the habit of clearing the sims cache every time I open them, because I edit my mods folder very often (as a CC creator, I kind of have to), but for Orifin, is it the same thing?
