Create an Animal and Create a Sim

Let's start at the beginning, the Create A Sims mode! If the main novelty of this mode lies in the creation of animals, don't let your pixel characters be jealous because many hairstyles and outfits have appeared with this expansion.

First of all, there is something for everyone. Short or long hair, smooth or curly, free or tied. As for the outfits, if we find the traditional sweaters with animal patterns (which are also present in the wardrobe of these gentlemen), more original outfits such as vintage dresses accompany them and will fit perfectly with one of the new cuts.

Gentlemen are not forgotten in this extension of the tops and relatively classic but comfortable outfits appear. If they don't have the class to walk the dog...

Children also see their hair and clothing potential improved with some hairstyles and accessories.

The Create An Animal

Let's get back to our pets. The Sims 4 Animal Creator is, according to Maxis, the most complete ever made. This is what we will see right away. For the purpose of this test, we will create a dog and a cat (even if everyone knows that dogs are the best!). To create a pet it's not very complicated, you just have to go to the Create a Sim and add a pet as you would add a new character (you have the possibility to adopt pets once in game). The first step is to choose the breed. Many are already predefined but you can create new ones with the breed blender and customize them. Each breed, in addition to modifying the shape and color of the animal, will also give it a default character trait that you can then delete if you wish. In dogs, for example, a pug will tend to be lazy while an Airedale Terrier will have a hunting instinct. By the way, while we're on the subject of animal personalities, note that you can choose 6 traits from the 17 available. You can also select the tone of the bark and the age between young, adult and old.

After selecting a breed, you can choose to keep the default animal or you can customize it. The general shape of the body, the tail or even the coat, you can make the modifications you want and you can even choose to draw on the coat thanks to a brush tool that evokes the fire Create A Style of The Sims 3. Those who are used to Photoshop and other Gimp tools will be familiar with the different brush patterns that can be used, but you don't need to be an artist to get started.

To make it easier, you can select a pose to adopt so that the different areas of the animal's coat are accessible. A word of caution though, a bit like a felt-tip pen through leaves, what you draw on one side will be reproduced on the other if you don't think to change the default options. See the little butterfly? If you ever write something on your pet without turning it off, the effect will be a little strange. Mind you, who writes on a dog's fur but me...

We finish with the funny aspect of the creation of an animal, the clothes! The most purist among us will be content to dress their pet with a collar so as not to lose it, while the others will not hesitate to put on a hot dog costume for Medor or a superhero cape for Minou.
