To get started, a few basics. "Let's live happily, let's live hidden". This proverb applies to wizards, or should I say "spellcasters" since that's their name, as strange as it is (especially since they can specialize in making potions...). Indeed, your Sims can use their magical talents everywhere in the game but the NPCs will wait until they are in the Magic World to use them. So you won't see little wizards running and burning everything in your streets.
The Magic World is where you should go if you are a regular Sim to receive your gifts. Note that you can also create wizards more simply from the Create A Sim. Sims of any age can be wizards but you'll have to wait until your teenage years to exercise your powers!
Once on the main field, you will meet many famous Sims who also have powers! Bob Pancakes, a wizard... Who would have thought it... Anyway, what you are interested in is to meet one of the three sages. There are three sages for three different kinds of magic but we'll come back to that later. For now, just find one of them, he has an icon above his head representing his house, introduce him and ask him how to use magic.
With his magic wand, he will reveal the location of several magic particles around the field. You will have to bring him 7 of them to complete the process. It is quite easy to find them, they are on the path that goes around the house.
You are now a spellcaster! To continue, you must understand how magic is divided. It is composed of 3 houses: untamed magic, evil magic and practical magic. Each house has several different spells with different uses. You can choose to learn them all or specialize in one of them. A fourth part is the mastery of potions. All this information and your progress in learning the different spells are available in your grimoire, which can be opened by clicking on the Sim and then going to the Magic tab or via the needs panel, which has been enlarged with a magic energy gauge.
Let's go back to the needs panel for a moment before continuing. As you can see, two new gauges have been added in addition to the usual needs. The first is the crystal ball at the top. The more magic you use the more it fills up but beware, the more you fill it up the more unstable your magic becomes. Powerful but unstable. So you have a greater risk of receiving curses, of missing your spells or even of passing the gun...
To empty the gauge, you have to wait a bit or use a discharge spell if you have learned it. A few words about curses while we're here. There are several of them and they are triggered according to your use of magic. My Sim being as good as his master in duels, he received curses for losing too many fights... The first one made duels more complicated and the second one made him want to hug everyone...
These curses can be lifted by drinking a potion that you must learn to make.
Let's move on to the most important thing now, magic and its use. As with vampires, there are several levels of spellcasters: apprentice, neophyte, acolyte, adept, master and virtuoso. These levels are associated with advantages unlocked by talent points. They allow you to learn faster, to unlock spells or to succeed more easily.
To level up, you have to use magic and to use magic, you have to learn spells. The easiest way to do this, whether at home or in the Magic World, is to click on your Sim and select the option to practice a particular type of magic. He will then be able to discover the different spells that are available for his rank as he goes along.
Another possibility is to ask one of the masters for some help. He will be able to train you and improve your rank or teach you new spells directly.
Duels are a good way to learn new spells. There are several ways to fight. First you can choose to go to a training ground or just do it where you are. Then you can select the type of reward for winning: knowledge, ingredients or ancient items. If you just want to fight for the sake of fighting, you can request a friendly or heated duel.
If you specialize in potions, you can ask for help from the wise men to get some recipes. Experimenting directly on the cauldron is also a good way to progress.
Finally, a classic but very practical way, some libraries in the Magic World have magic books. Send your Sim to look for them and read them to discover what they contain.
The spells are quite numerous in this pack and so are their uses. Here is a small list of what you can do with your powers. Note that all the spells are detailed in the grimoire.
Malicious magic
- Desespoirio: Fill a Sim's mind with intense sadness.
- Delusional: Get inside a Sim's head and mess with their thoughts.
- Furio: Convince two Sims to fight and come to blows.
- Charm: Convince two Sims to be romantic with each other.
- Steal: Acquire something that does not belong to you.
- Transform: Transform an unlucky Sim into an inanimate object.
- Strangify: Make a Sim look repulsive to everyone
Untamed magic
- Calciner: Instantly incinerate your target with the power of fire.
- Electrico: Use electrical energy to send a shock to something.
- Funèbrappel : Faites sortir les morts de leur lieu de repos éternel.
- Refroidio: Create a blast of cold air that freezes everyone it touches.
- Control: Control the mind of another Sim and make it do your bidding
- Demure: Return a ghost to its original physical form
- De-curse: Free yourself from the effects of a magical curse.
- Duplicato: Create a perfect replica of yourself that will last for a while.
Practical Magic
- Repair a broken item or improve the quality of crafted items
- Impeccablo: Make something or someone perfectly clean
- Delicious: Create a delicious meal without ingredients or utensils
- Floralorial : Keep your plants healthy and insect free
- Teleport : Go instantly to another place, whatever the distance
- Copy and paste: Turn a small object into many objects
- Herbio: Create a plant that is fully grown regardless of the quality of the soil.
- Chemoa : Return to the magical world
- Rite of Ascension: Give the gift of magic to another Sim.
Alchemy
- Luck Potion: Find useful items while doing daily activities. Turquoise and valerian root
- Needs Satisfaction Potion: Satisfy all of a Sim's needs. Apple.
- Nausea Potion: To annoy an enemy and turn his stomach. Mandrake and Earth Frog
- Alertness Potion: Increases the speed of skill development. Parsley and Spotted Frog.
- Magic Aura Potion: Potion that displays a Sim's magic aura. Emerald and goldfish.
- Attractive Aura Potion: Allows the Sim who drinks it to make other Sims more receptive to romantic conversations. Polka dot frog heart, cherry and valerian root
- Emotional Stability Potion: Removes unnecessary emotional baggage. Obtenirium and potato.
- Perk Elimination Potion: Allows a spellcaster to choose different perks. Mandrake and Valerian Root
- Imposed Friendship Potion: Unlocks the power of friendly conversation. Baconite, Potato, Salmon
- Masterful Insult Potion: Unlocks strong animosity. Fire Opal, Dragon Fruit and Furium
- Eternal Age Potion: Allows a sim to remain at their current age. Valerian root, alabaster and lemon
- Curse Removal Potion: Removes all curses from a Sim. Apple, citrine, scalaria and mandrake.
- Transcendent Charm Potion: Unlocks the power of romantic conversation. Ruby, kissing gourami and rose
- Quick Resurrection Potion: A Sim who drinks this potion will be resurrected immediately upon death. Death metal, death chrysanthemum and zombie carl.
Our wizards are not alone in their quest for magic. In the Spellcasters' Alley, one of the islands of the Magic World, you will find several stores that sell all the necessities of the perfect little wizard, starting with brooms and wands. They are sold directly and the only difference between the different types is their price or their appearance. No better spells with a more expensive accessory. Whether it's wands or brooms, your sim can choose to use them automatically or not. He can use his hands to cast spells and his feet to walk without them.
Last but not least, pets. These little creatures can be bought in the Spellcasters' Alley. You can also find some of them in globes on the main field of the magic world.
Pets help you to regulate your magical energy and help you not to die in some cases.
